Cabaret Voltaire was not the café in which dada was born. On 5 february 1915 the former "Meierei" was transformed into a "Künstlerkneipe" for which the owner Ephraim had gotten permission. In Cabaret Voltaire Hugo Ball, Emmy Hennings, Tristan Tzara, Marcel Janco, Hans Arp and later Richard Huelsenbeck organized Dada Soirées where the visual arts were combined with poetry, music and cabaret.
From this soirées there came the magazine Cabaret Voltaire.
"Als ich das Cabaret Voltaire gründete...": the preface in the revue Cabaret Voltaire.
