Hans or Jean Arp was born at 16 september 1887 in Strasbourg. He died 7 june 1966 in Swiss. Arp was painter, sculpture and poet. He arrives in Zürich in 1915 and becomes a member of dada Zürich. He contributed in many ways: as a regular visitor and performer at Cabaret Voltaire, as an illustrator of Richard Huelsenbeck's Phantastische Gebete, as an illustrator of the various dada-magazines, as a writer of poems in those magazines. In 1919 Arp goes to Cologne to visit his friend Max Ernst. With Ernst and Baargeld he starts up dada Köln. In 1920 they organise a famous exposition. In the same year Arp publishes his first bundle of poetry Die Wolkenpumpe.
