In 1991 Hans Arp, Walter Helbig and Oscar Lüthy founded Der Moderne Bund. Untill its disclosure in the winter of 1913 four expositions were held:
3 - 17 December 1911: first exposition in Hotel du Lac in Luzern with works of the founders, but also of Paul Gauguin and Pablo Picasso.
7 - 31 Juli 1912: second expostion in Kunsthaus Zürich with works of the founders and of members of Der Blaue Reiter. Publication of the first Mappe des Modernen Bundes, the first publication about abstact art in Swiss.
16 March - 4 April 1913: third exposition in Galerie Hans Goltz in München with works of the founders and of Hermann Huber, Paul Klee and others. Publication of the second Mappe des Modernen Bundes.
26 April - 31 May 1913: fourth exposition in Galerie Der Sturm. A reprise of the Münchener exposition.
