dada is ...alphabet Armory Show

The Armory Show is America's first meeting with European painters. The International Exhibition of Modern Art opens its doors at the 69th Regiment Armory at 305 Lexington Avenue at 25th Street on 17th February 1913. The exhibition was organized by Walter Pach, Arthur Davies and Walt Kuhn and financially backed by patrons Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney and Mabel Dodged. It consisted of more than 1.600 items, from numerous Impressionist works by Renoir to cubist-futuristic paintings by Marcel Duchamp.
